Daytona USA soundtrack : Start your engines

Daytona USA is an arcade game released in 1993 in Japan and in 1994 in the U.S. Based on the Sega Model 2 arcade system, the game was developed by AM2 of SEGA. Toshihiro Nagoshi was involved in the project. In 1995, the game is ported to the Sega Saturn.

Back to 1995, I remember I played the game at a friend's room. He had rented the console with 2 other games as well. But Daytona USA was the most impressive!

The first shock apart from the true 3D polygons was the music during the game introduction: it was the firts time I heard that in a game. At that time I owned a Super NES and Starwing was my first 3D experience. But the music...and the digitalised voice constantly used was also something new.

But let's talk about the game and its features:

Arcade mode
As suggested, this mode is similar to the arcade game: you can only chose between 2 cars: the manual one or the automatic. Your race is time limited and you need to reach the checkpoints as fast as possible.

Saturn mode
No time limit here. 8 cars to chose, miror mode and time attack are available.

Circuits
Quite surprisingly, they are only 3:
- Beginner
- Advanced
- Expert

Cars

8 cars can be selected in the Saturn mode. You can chose either an automatic or manual transmission.
Of course, the red and blue Hornet car is available!
